Immigration:
In regards to getting votes, I read a report a couple weeks back of some places in Texas had record numbers of illegal voters.  The most amazing way they found out was those people got called for Jury Duty which of course is generated from your drivers license, they actually showed up for the jury duty and when asked, had to admit they were not citizens and not even legal immigrants.  When you get a license you are asked about registering to vote.  One town had 3000+ I believe in such votes on the rolls.  I am not positive but I believe they said they were registered as Democrat, (which does not mean they voted that way).  This is happening all across the Country.
The only people that should be allowed to vote in this Country are Citizens, people who actually love what this Country stands for and were either born a citizen or jumped through the hoops to become one.  I do believe the time has come that we need a national ID card.  One that will tell if we are a citizen or visitor visa, here on work or in school.  It could also be used as a drivers license and voter ID card.  When we go to vote we should be asked to show our ID, which we are not.  Even if you know the person you should still be required to see ID.  Where I used to vote I did not know the polling people and always took my ID in and gave it to them, they told me they just needed my name.  Huh?  Then I seen a couple people come in and just give a name and was allowed to vote.  I asked the ladies and man there if they knew these people and they just shrugged there shoulders and said no.
People in today's society do not take the time to research all sides of any issue or take the time to get to learn about the candidates, they vote on what they hear on the news or read in the media or just vote party line because...  Not everyone is like that but a frightening large amount are.  When questioned in a man on the street interview, showed pictures of the President, VP etc. many do not know who they are, but show them a picture of Paris Hilton and they know right away who she is.  These people are voting for the Reps that make our policy's and supposedly carry them out!  Now that is scary as hell.
This Immigration Bill is crap to be honest.  It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out our government can not walk and chew gum at the same time.  They passed a bill a year ago to build that darn fence on the border and yes, it was funded in homeland security, yet they have only built 2 miles of it.  Why?  Build the fence while we take the time this Bill needs to come up with a plan that is acceptable and smart for immigration.  We already do not know who is in the Country but at least we could stop others from coming in, except for the legal way.  This new bill lets everyone already here as of the Jan 1, get green cards or a SO card.  They call this a path to citizenship.  First of all, the government has 24 hours to do a background check before issuing these cards, that in itself is a joke, 24 hours...ha-ha.  Our Government can not do anything that fast and if they do, it surely won't be a very good background check.  Then to become citizens they have to pay a $5000 fine.  Most of them can not afford this, so they just will not become a citizen, yet they will be eligible for Social Security etc. legally. You should have to work and pay into the SS system at least 25 years to be eligible for it if an immigrant.  They still will not be able to legally vote. They will have to learn English.  Well, duh!  That should be made our official language regardless.  One language so everyone can communicate, esp. when it comes to important things like reading and obeying our laws, getting medical attention.
I have no problem with people wanting to come here to work.  They should get guest worker pass for a certain amount of time, during that time the employer should be responsible for there health care and when there time is up, they must go back home.
This chain immigration is for the birds.  I never heard of this before, one person could bring in as many as 270 family members, that would have to mean mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters, cousins etc.  Who is paying for all these people?   Anyone that is not a citizen and has a baby here, should not make that baby a citizen, they should be a citizen of what ever Country the parents are from.  Any illegal immigrant that is arrested should be sent back home and any legal immigrant that is arrested and convicted of a crime should be sent back home, ( I am not talking about a speeding ticket but a violent crime).
Shoving a Bill through this important so fast is ridiculous as well as dangerous.
